A Decade in the Making: A New Novel with My Favorite Collaborator!

I'm so excited to announce the release of Footlights and Foyers! More than a decade ago, my writing partner and longtime friend, Amber Tabangay, and I began developing this story as a screenplay. After all these years, we've finally brought it to life as a historical novel based on the unpublished memoirs of Charles Bancroft Dillingham, one of Broadway's most influential and surprisingly forgotten theatrical producers. My fascination with Charles began with a family connection. Growing up, I was always told that he was a cousin of my great-grandmother. What started as a little genealogical curiosity turned into years of research, and the more I discovered about this remarkable man, the more astonished I became that his name wasn't as familiar as those of his famous contemporaries.

During his extraordinary career, Dillingham produced more than 200 shows, helped bring Irving Berlin's music to Broadway, built the magnificent Globe Theatre, and transformed the New York Hippodrome into a world of breathtaking theatrical spectacles. He worked with legendary performers, including Fred and Adele Astaire, and even helped illuminate Broadway with a giant electric windmill advertising The Red Mill in 1906. Yet somehow, while names like Florenz Ziegfeld have endured, Dillingham's contributions have largely faded from public memory. His life was filled with extraordinary successes, heartbreaking losses, fascinating friendships, and the kind of backstage drama that could rival anything he produced. Amber and I fell in love with his story, and we're thrilled to finally share it with readers. We hope Footlights and Foyers gives this remarkable man a little of the recognition he so richly deserves.

Now available in e-book, trade paperback, hardcover, and Kindle Unlimited!
